Start with flow
Inventory is an outcome. Before changing a parameter, inspect demand velocity, replenishment cadence, and the age profile of available stock.
Separate signal from symptom
Days of cover, excess value, and service performance form a useful first view. None is sufficient on its own.
Recommendation
Build action queues around exceptions with explicit owners and review dates—not around dashboards alone.
